Runbook
When something is not right: what you see, why it happens, and the taps that fix it. Faster than any of these: open settings and type in search settings. Still stuck? Report a bug.
home opens the old launcher
Android has one home app, and an update or a reset can give it back to the old one.
- Hold empty space or tap ◆. If
set as homeis in the main menu, tap it and pick Phosphor. - Or in Android: settings, apps, default apps, home app, Phosphor.
double tap will not lock
The lock gesture runs through the phosphor lock service. Android, or a battery saver, sometimes turns accessibility services off after an update.
- Open settings,
home,lock gesture ›. - Tap
phosphor lock serviceand turn it on again in Android's accessibility page. - Back on home, double tap empty space.
Fingerprint and face unlock keep working. Some phones also need Phosphor taken off battery optimisation.
notifications are empty
The log, the badges and the media panel need notification access. Without it they stay empty.
- Open settings,
privacy,privacy and permissions. - Tap
notification accessand turn Phosphor on in Android's page.
Nothing read this way leaves the phone. If you hid an app's notifications, settings, home, notifications lists it: tap it to show it again.
weather is empty or wrong
Weather follows the phone's location, rounded to about 1 km. With location off, or far from a town, it has nothing to go on.
- Open settings,
clock and weather, weather places. - Type a city instead of
auto, or add several.
A typed place needs no location permission at all.
the screen saver never starts
Android starts a screen saver only when the screen times out while charging, and only if its own "when to start" says so. Picking Phosphor is not enough.
- Open settings,
phone, screen saver. - If you see
when to startsaying not while charging, tap it and pick while charging in Android's page. - Put the phone on the charger and let the screen time out.
pro is missing
Pro belongs to the Google account that bought it, not to the phone.
- Make sure the Play Store uses the same Google account.
- Open settings,
phosphor pro,restore purchase.
A panel with a padlock card is a pro panel. Tap it to see what pro adds.
the subscription fails
The subscription runs through the Google Play app. A copy not installed from Google Play, an old Play Store, or no account on the phone can not reach it.
- Open the Play Store once and check you are signed in.
- Update Phosphor and the Play Store from Google Play.
- Try the row again at the end of settings.
It is optional and unlocks nothing. To cancel: tap the same row, or Play Store, your profile, payments and subscriptions.
the health panel is empty
Steps, heart and sleep come from Health Connect, and only the types you allow.
- Tap the health panel and allow what it asks for.
- Or open Health Connect, app permissions, Phosphor, and turn on steps, heart rate and sleep.
Without Health Connect it still counts steps with the phone's own counter.
home network out of reach
On newer Android, reaching devices on your own wifi needs local network access.
- Allow it when Phosphor asks.
- Missed it? Android settings, apps, Phosphor, permissions, and allow nearby devices or local network.
the battery drains fast
Motion, crt effects and many live panels redraw the screen often.
- Open settings and search for
frame rate. Set it to 30. - Turn crt off, or pick a look without motion.
- Dark themes save the most on OLED screens.
Battery saver lowers the frame rate for you unless you picked one.
something is gone
Most things are hidden, not deleted.
- A hidden app: settings,
home, hidden apps, tap it. - A panel: hold empty space,
edit layout, and look on each page, or add it again. - Just changed something? Most menus have
undo.
start again from fresh
When too much has changed, a clean start is quicker.
- Hold empty space or tap ◆,
help, reset to defaults. - Confirm with
yes, reset it.
